Tigger updates

Lots of things have been going on in Tigger's life. He is living with a foster family - a mom and four kittens. Mom doesn't like him that much but Tigger loves the kittens. They make him feel young and he wants to play!



Tigger got a bath, and much worse, he got blood drawn by his owner and her horrible friend for a heartworm antibody test. Now he is on both flea and heartworm preventative treatments - they are both chewable tablets that he likes to eat. He was VERY BAD for his blood draw and had to be wrapped up in a towel and then he struggled and got blood all over the carpet. But lots of blood was taken for both a red top tube and a purple top tube and the staff at the heartworm testing said it was a great blood draw :D

He loves this thing (or, it is super frustrating and he actually hates it. Either way, he's gonna lose some of that flub chasing this around...)

But he let me brush them out. Now my trash can is full of fur. Tigger did not enjoy it and tried to bite me.

Tigger is a fatty

We learn to evaluate the body condition score of dogs and cats in Nutrition class, basically the quick and dirty way to decide if they're skinny, fat, or in-between. This is what a body condition score chart looks like :


So Tigger meets the following criteria:

Can't really feel his ribs.
Doesn't have a waist.
Has an abdominal fat pad.

I'm sorry, Tigger, but you are officially a fatty. We're gonna put you at a 6 or a 7. And we're putting you on a diet. Several bags of "Light cat food for fatties" / "Light cat food for fatties with annoying long hair that makes them vomit up hairballs that their owners have to clean up at the most inconvenient times" - await you.

It's been raining hard for about a week here in Davis. So when I left for work at 4 this morning, I thought it'd be funny to give Tigger a taste of Davis weather. he always tries to escape, but this time I let him. He didn't stay outside for more than 30 seconds before he decided the house was a much nicer place to be!

I also gave him some toys (mostly catnip hidden in a toilet paper roll) and he batted that around for him. I also hid a treat in my old shoe - we'll see if he digs it out.

This morning when I left to go to work, Tigger saw a glimpse of the outside world. Now he is standing on his tiptoes and has his front paws on the doorknob. Bad kitty is trying to open the door!!
